Evinrude E-Tec

Evinrude E-Tec Fuel Injector Service / Or Not

Three years ago we started on a journey to Service Evinrude E-Tec Fuel Injectors.
At the time we had two machines designed to service automotive fuel injectors.
These are great machines that do a wonderful job. They are work horses and are of good quality. One is made in England and the other from Germany. They are popular machines that everyone uses in the Fuel Injector Service Industry.

These machines Mimic your engine and fires the injectors so you can observe the spray pattern and measure the flow. Measuring the flow is important so you know the injector is performing at its peak performance and not running lean or leaking. They work great on all automotive and outboard injectors that are 12 volt DC.

We took both of these machines and made jigs to fit the E-Tec injectors to try to Flow the Injectors. The E-Tec Fuel Injector is a 55 volt DC Injector with a twist. The voltage is Flipped in Reverse and works both ways. It looks like a AC waveform, 55 Volts positive, 55 Volts negative. The machines barely made the injectors fire. They did not work and will not work.

We knew then we had to build and machine to Mimic the Evinrude Engine and we did. Now the injector fires properly and performs as it does on the Engine.
We did not stop there, we bought a Evinrude engine for testing to insure we where doing this correctly. We hooked a oscilloscope up to the engine and captured the waveform so we could duplicate the same conditions.

Since we have started this service several shops now offer E-Tec Fuel Injector Service using these automotive machines. They can not Flow the injector properly. It will not work. The manufactures of these machines claim they do work and are pushing there machines to Service shops.

This service is being pushed with no training or knowledge about the injector.
I have been told by them they work "good enough". They Don't ! We tried........
If they work correctly show me your flow video and your flow data........

As a boat owner with a E-Tec engine, I would not want my injectors serviced this way. They can not be Flowed or tested to insure there is not a problem or running lean.

We are not scared of Competition. There is enough E-Tec injectors to be serviced by lots of shops. We got into this business because of overpriced injector service and flat out lies about the services.

Fuel injector service works and is a necessity to keep our engines working correctly.

If your going to do something, do it right ! Don not take shortcuts to save a few bucks. Don't mislead your customers and steal there money or take a chance on destroying a $15,000  to $20,000 engine.

Why would companies that make great automotive fuel injector service machines
push something that does not work ?

Greed !

Build a machine that works correctly for E-Tec or stay on the porch .........

Evinrude E-Tec Fuel Injector

In our constant effort to improve our service and to keep
our customers informed about what we do, we have put together a short
Video on Evinrude E-Tec Fuel Injector Flow.

The E-Tec Fuel Injector is a amazing injector and atomizes Fuel like no
other injector.

The Video does not show the Injector justice but is a short Video
on its performance.

Enjoy........

Evinrude E-Tec

Evinrude E-Tec

Evinrude E-Tec engines have become a popular outboard engine.
They have developed one of the most efficient fuel injectors on the market.

The only problem with this injector is it can not be serviced by equipment
built for all other injectors. Our equipment will not run these injectors.

All fuel injectors (except E-Tec) operate at 12 volts DC.
E-Tec fuel injectors operate at 55 Volts ..........

After 2 1/2 years we decided to solve this problem and become the first
Fuel Injector Service Company to offer a service for E-Tec.

We built a dedicated machine to service E-Tec Fuel Injectors.
We can now clean and Flow test E-Tec Fuel Injectors.

Evinrude owners now can save by having their injectors serviced and cleaned
like the rest of the world......

The only choice Evinrude owners had before was to replace the Fuel Injectors
at a cost of $340 to over $400 each....

Now, they can have them serviced for $44......

Fuel Additives / Do They Work ?

Fuel Additives have become very popular and claim to improve your gas mileage, clean your injectors, give
you more horsepower etc., etc., etc. or should I say Blah, Blah, Blah !

I have used some of these products myself with little or no results. Like pouring money down a drain.

About 18 months ago we started noticing a problem with some of the fuel injectors we where servicing.
The filters in the injectors where Brittle, Crumbly or even completely  gone.
The injectors are leaking because without the filters trash gets inside and they become stuck open.

We started calling our customers and asking questions. Come to find out, all the customers where using some
type of Fuel Additive. The fuel additives are eating up the filters inside the injectors.

This information had already been given to us by our Fuel Injector parts supplier. In fact they had told us
to tell  all our customers to stop using Additives because of this problem.
They have been in this business for 25 years, must know something about it !

Our findings are not scientific, approved by any government office or meant to beat up any oil or chemical company.
We are just giving out information about what we have found out and what we think does not work.

When the bottle of Chemical cleaner can change the filter in the Fuel Injector we might have a
different opinion about Additives.............
Till then.....
Save your Money !
Dont use them.....................

Fuel Injector Cleaning / On-Car or Off-Car ?

Fuel injector cleaning is a must with today's fuel cost.
We must all do what we can do to save our planet.
Cleaning your fuel injectors helps by getting better fuel economy and producing less emissions.

So which way of cleaning your injectors is the best ?
On-car or Off-car ?

The On-car cleaning procedure is as follows........
Your injectors are left in your car. They remove your gas hose from your tank and hook a machine up to your car.
The machine will then pump cleaning fluids through your cars fuel system.
The average cost of this is service is about $250.00

The Off-car cleaning procedure is as follows.....
Your injectors are removed from your car and sent to a fuel injector service company.
The injectors are put into a fuel injector test bench where they are tested for...
Spray pattern tested, flow tested, leak tested, electrically tested.
The  technician can visually see the test procedures and records this information.
The injectors are then removed from the test bench and the filters are removed from the injectors....
Yes Fuel injectors have filters !
The injectors are then placed in a ultrasonic machine where they are cleaned inside and out to 100%.
After cleaning the injectors they get new filters installed and placed back in to the test bench.
They are then tested again to insure they are at 100%.
The injectors then get all new rubber o-rings and replaceable parts, shrink wrapped and sent back..
Fuel Injector Man charges $16.00 per injector for this service.
If you have a 6 cylinder car, thats $96.00 plus shipping back.

Not a hard decision to make on which service is best.
With the On-car service your filters in your injectors do not get replaced.
With the  On-car service you do not know if your injectors are leaking, spraying right of flowing correctly.

Fuel injectors are easy to remove and Fuel Injector Man does a 24 Hour Turnaround.....

We all can make a difference !
We are by giving a great service for a fair price.
